ABOUT
SANGITA LAKHANPAL
A singing yogini, Sangita Lakhanpal is a British-born artist rooted in the spiritual wisdom of her Indian heritage.
Drawing from Vedic mythology, she breathes new life into ancient stories through soundscapes of song, mantra, and spoken word—an artistry Kuljit Bhamra MBE calls “extraordinary vocal expression.”
Her music carries the sounds of the wild places she has lived in, and she shares her practices through pilgrimages, ceremonies, sound healings, and Tantra-Yoga retreats.
Bridging the mythic and the modern, the sacred and the sensual, she says, “I invite listeners to return to their essential nature through sound, breath, and presence.” Her ceremonial performances weave Sanskrit mantra, poetic storytelling, and electronic soundscapes
Sangita Lakhanpal's New Album
Sangita has a brand new album, The 10 Faces of Kali - funded by Arts Council England—is a continuation of her mythic exploration of feminine divinity through sound, following her earlier work The Durga Opera.
"A unique and evocative form of artistry which gives voice to timeless wisdoms”
Nicolas Brown - BAFTA and Emmy award winning documentary film director
Sangita Lakhanpal's Journey
That calling became a pilgrimage. For over 17 years, she walked alongside the sacred River Narmada in India, immersed in oral traditions, mantras, and myths. She founded a free arts school for girls in rural India and began leading retreats and pilgrimages as pathways of both spiritual and ecological renewal.
Summers brought her to the wilds of Britain—living off-grid, singing with the land, and listening for its ancient song lines. From these experiences, a new kind of music began to emerge—one that weaves her mystical inheritance with the textured pulse of UK electronic subculture.
"Her work pulses with a voice that is sensuous, and awakened to these times."
