Sangita Lakhanpal is a “singing yogini,” a British-born artist rooted in the spiritual wisdom of her Indian heritage.


Sangita’s work draws from Vedic mythology, breathing new life into ancient stories through sensuous immersive soundscapes. 


Moving from instrumentation, to vocals, sung mantras, to spoken word, she invites audiences to experience ancient wisdoms which sing to these times.


Sangita has released two albums, Namo, inspired by her river pilgrimage along the Narmada, and The Durga Opera, a bold devotional retelling of the Devi Mahatmya. 


Her forthcoming album, The Ten Faces of Kali, continues this journey of musical storytelling, channeling the fierce and beautiful Goddesses of the Mahavidyas. Across all her offerings, Sangita creates spaces of remembrance, of source, of songlines, and of our sacred connection to nature.

Her journey began as a human rights lawyer, before a profound shift led her to the path of Tantric Yoga.  


Sangita  began taking mantra-based music meditations into prisons, schools, and rehabilitation centres, sharing the transformative power of sacred sound to marginalised communities. 


Answering a deeper inner calling, she embarked on an epic pilgrimage along the sacred River Narmada in India, here she founded an NGO, a free arts school for children. 


Her life now flows between the banks of the Narmada and the ancient sites of Cornwall. Her body of work and teaching carry the sounds which have emerged from her immersion in mythic culture and the wilds of nature.

Alongside her artistic career, Sangita offers pilgrimages, teaching, sound-healing, and bespoke ceremonies – sharing her artistic practices within the context of the culture and traditions from which they arose.
