Portugese Mountain – River Pilgrimage

A Yogic Mountain - River Pilgrimage. A Journey into Portugal’s Secret Water Wonderland

PILGRIMAGE

DATE: 25th to 31st August

LOCATION: Serra Del Estrella, Guarda district, Portugal

PRICE: £850

Join us for a transformative yoga retreat and pilgrimage in one of Portugal’s most pristine and untouched landscapes.

Hidden within the Serra da Estrela mountains, this secluded river sanctuary offers a rare opportunity to reconnect with nature, immerse in ancient Vedic water rituals, and experience the healing power of immaculate waters.

Nestled along the Alva River and the mystical Caniça stream, this land remains a well-kept secret - an enchanted haven where crystalline waters flow over a quartz-rich riverbed, charged with pure, revitalizing energy.

The river’s course winds like a sacred temple, carving out waterfalls, natural jacuzzis, small caves, and tranquil pools perfect for meditative immersion.

The untouched wilderness here is an invitation to pray, dream, and practice yoga in an environment that feels otherworldly.

A Sacred Place, Untouched by Time

The land where we will practice has never been touched by agriculture or modern development.

The Romans, known for their deep knowledge of sacred waters, left behind remnants of ancient walls—a testament to the purity and significance of this source.

Walking these trails, you will feel the whispers of history and the deep resonance of nature’s wisdom.

In the surrounding valley of the Mondego River, century-old chestnut forests provide shelter for a rich diversity of fauna and flora, some of which are rarely seen elsewhere in Portugal.

Here, silence is sacred, and the only sound is the gentle flow of the river and the rustling of leaves in the wind.

Our Home: A Riverside Haven

We will stay in a picturesque Portuguese village along the Alva River, close to the sanctuary where we will spend our days.

This charming retreat space offers the perfect balance - wild yet accessible, remote yet welcoming.

From here, we will take quiet walks to explore hidden waterfalls, discover the mysterious formations of Cornos do Diabo, and bathe in the underground streams of the Ribeira da Caniça.

Yoga, Ritual, and Rejuvenation

This retreat is an invitation to deepen your yoga practice in harmony with nature. Each day, we will:
  • Practice yoga and meditation on sacred ground, surrounded by the purest elements.
  • Participate in Vedic water rituals, harnessing the healing power of the river.
  • Trek through unspoiled landscapes, absorbing the profound serenity of the land.
  • Immerse ourselves in crystal-clear waters, experiencing their purifying and revitalizing effects.
